Wolverine, a prominent character in the Marvel universe, is known for his gruff demeanor and superhuman abilities. His origin is rooted in a childhood trauma in Canada, which later triggered the manifestation of his mutant powers.

Key among these powers are his accelerated healing factor and retractable bone claws. These natural attributes were further augmented through the Weapon X program, where his skeleton was bonded with adamantium, an virtually indestructible metal.

Wolverine's initial appearance was in The Incredible Hulk #181 (November 1974) . The adamantium bonding process provided him with heightened durability, though it also contributes to his inner turmoil.

He has been a fixture in many X-Men related media, often acting as a reluctant hero. Wolverine's longevity, coupled with his amnesia, gives him a complex past and ongoing struggle to reconcile his animalistic nature with his desire for purpose and belonging.
